Its time for me to Leave
by radar inthis is goodbye from me folks!.
my son keeps taunting me saying are you on that jo bo site again.
it is true, i have spent too much time here, staring into the computer screen waiting for a revelation or something to catch my interest or imagination.. when i think about all that time and all those years spent as a watchtower slave, well it does leave you empty and with time on your hands dont it?.

Why do the 'friends' believe Elders over Experts
by FriendlyFellaAL inthis is something i've been wondering about lately due to personal experiences.
my mother and stepfather (she's a jw, he is not) have been having some marital problems of late and instead of seeking out the advice of a marriage counselor or some similar specialist in the field, they have chosen to seek help through one of the elders in her congregation.
i'm completely surprised by this, yet i know i shouldn't be.

Because Elders are appointed by holy spirit ,apparently, and therefore are qualified to cock up your life.If you follow their advice and it works there's your proof...
If it dos'nt...your attitude is probably wrong...and they've given you another problem in the process to add to the first one...blah, blah... -

What "hooked" you?
by roybatty inim not sure if this has been discussed before but id be interested to read some comments from those who became jws later in life.
what caught your attention and sucked you in?.
my parents became jws when i was 5 years old, so it was pretty much the only way of life that i knew.

I felt sorry for them; they were walking in the rain and no one would open their doors...took the mags...did'nt want my children to die,as they told me they would if I did'nt get it right...had postnatal depression at the time...
now I love it when it rains........... -

Thanks for the hug Matty ...the term cold-blooded is a good one;the damage they inflict by being un-trained and incompetent in the face of distressing situations must do so much damage to so many;Iwas even told i'd be better off without 'therapy' as you had to be so careful that the therapist's views did'nt conflict with Jehovahs...How the hell are you supposed to go through therapy analising each sentence and trying to 'ok' it mentally and measure it against any bible verses you can remember?I can't even remember what I was wearing during the attacks...
SPAZnik-another beautifully expressed post!X
xyzzy-Sounds fair to me...XX

JEHOVAH JUDGES ABUSIVE ELDERS
by You Know inrepeatedly, the scriptures admonish jehovahs people to stay in wakeful anticipation of gods judgments.
the not so obvious reason being that we don't know exactly how jehovah's judgments are going to go down.
however, the ordering of events once the judgment commences should not be in question.

Ozzie's Weekend Poll #5
by ozziepost inyes, it's that time again!
time to put your feet up, relax with something nice to drink, and muse over dubdom for a couple of minutes.. last weekend we asked: "what did you like most about the meetings?
" so, to be fair to objectivity, we should ask for the 'other side'.

The sisters who'd been hard at work the night before working out 'harmonies' for the songs... boy did they look smug after...painful..
the echoing loos-everyone could hear you peeing...
being stuck inside when it was hot and sunny....
Trying not to think 'bad 'thoughts about that damn fine brother......
Listening to the greek language expert explain why the WT study article was slightly flawed.......
Trying to eat quietly......
going home to find hubby still in bed and i'd been up for 4 hours....
Ah....happy times.....
This morning I was brought breakfast in bed at 11.30, read the papers in the garden till lunchtime, had drinks with the neighbours and did'nt miss the meeting once...how odd...!
